Valuing the employee
ArcelorMittal Tubarão gives priority to valuing the employee, which is one of the guidelines of its human resources philosophy. This guideline fosters personal growth and delivers satisfaction contributing to improve the work environment.
Considering that the Organizational Climate is the employees’ collective perception of organizational practices, policies and values as well as the existing levels of motivation and credibility, ArcelorMittal Tubarão believes in the high correlation between climate, satisfaction at work, quality, people’s performance and as a result productivity increase.
In order to be managed, the organizational behaviour needs to be measured. Thus, since 1996 ArcelorMittal Tubarão has carried out its organizational climate survey in partnership with Hay Group.
Based on survey results a global action plan for the company and sectorial plans for the areas are prepared and implemented with aims to bring about the necessary improvements pointed out by the survey.
In 2003, ArcelorMittal Tubarão earned 1st place with a 73% approval index among the Brazilian companies surveyed by Hay Group. In 2004, ArcelorMittal Tubarão achieved the best result in its history with a 79% approval index and keeping its leadership position in the market.
In 2006 ArcelorMittal Tubarão received from Hay Group the World Class Management Award as first in the “Agility for changes and Integration” category in Organizational Climate Management.
ArcelorMittal Tubarão received from Hay Group, on March 26th, 2007, the Engaged Performance Award in the “Culture of Innovation” category for its excellence in organizational climate management (2005/2006).
