In order to become an active agent of transformation, the company works with the concept of Co-responsibility which is brought about through a close and transparent relationship with government agencies and the surrounding communities.
Investments are directed not only to our own programs, but also to carefully selected social projects. Initiatives focused on the transformation of reality and related to Education, Health, Community Development, Environment and Culture are our priority.
In line with the actions carried out by the ArcelorMittal Foundation throughout the world, Tubarão also encourages voluntary work among its employees, which is construed as a factor to strengthen citizenship and personal development. The origin of the concept
Sustainability is the search for development using natural resources reasonably to meet current production needs without compromising the quality of life of future generations.
The concept of sustainability started to be delineated in the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Sweden in 1972 and was presented to the world in the Brundtland Report in 1987, which launched the bases for the integrated actions to reach and keep quality of life in environmental, social and economic aspects. Since 2005 ArcelorMittal Tubarão has incorporated three other aspects: political, cultural and spiritual.
